Baby at Week 26
Your 26-week baby measures about 14 inches and weighs about 2.01 pounds(902 grams). Your baby is about the size of a head of cabbage.
Baby’s Development at Week 26
At 26 weeks, your baby is developing senses, features and even talents.
Eyes: Your baby’s eyes are beginning to open at 26 weeks pregnant. Your baby even has visible eyebrows and eyelashes.
Reproductive System: If your baby is a boy, his testicles may start to move from the abdomen into the scrotum this week.
Brain-wave activity: Your little one can not only hear noises but can now also respond with changes in heartbeat, breathing, and movement.
Common Symptoms This Week
- Higher blood pressure: A slight boost in blood pressure is normal at 26 weeks pregnant. If your doctor sees too high of a boost, though, they might have you monitored more closely.

- Insomnia: The closer you get to your due date, the tougher it might be to get some rest. Between heartburn, leg cramps, and bathroom runs, it’s no wonder your body’s having trouble calming down and drifting off. Avoid excess caffeine intake, stay hydrated and get a little exercise to help your body settle down at night.
- Lower-back pain: If your lower back seems a little achy lately, you can thank both your growing uterus – which shifts your center of gravity, stretches out and weakens your abdominal muscles, and may be pressing on a nerve – as well as hormonal changes that loosen your joints and ligaments.
