Babies cry. A lot! And sometimes, you find yourself crying along with them when you feel helpless and unaware of the reason why they are crying. To help, here are the most common causes of your baby’s cries, decoded.

Common reasons why Babies cry and how to soothe them
1. Hunger
An hungry baby is an angry baby and usually, crying is the last sign a baby shows when he or she is hungry. Watch out for these other early signs of hunger.
2. Diaper Issues
Diaper rash, tight diaper, soiled diaper, and tight diaper are all diaper related issues that can make a baby uncomfortable. If your baby is well fed and keeps crying, your next check point should be the diaper.

3. Unconducive Weather
Heat or cold can make the baby uncomfortable. Touch your baby’s tiny hands, forehead and neck and feet to see if they are cold or hot. While is it fairly normal for babies to have cold hands and feet, the forehead and the neck will help tell if the baby is feeling too cold. If you have a thermometer close by, you could check the baby’s temperature to be double sure and also add or remove layers of clothing if necessary.

4. Feeling Itchy

5. Discomfort or Unwell
Now this is where you need to be concerned should the baby be unwell, teething, colicky and so on. If your baby keeps crying and showing other signs of discomfort or illness, please go to the hospital for a proper checkup.
6. Overtired or Sleepy
Babies can get cranky and uneasy when they are overtired. They want to sleep but find it difficult to due to fatigue. If your child experiences this, give a cool bath to calm the nerves and help the baby settle in for a good sleep.
7. Attention
That’s right. Babies sometimes crying “Just Because”. Wanting Mama’s attention could make a baby cry. Simply picking up the baby can stop the tears. This isn’t due to any reason in particular, just a bored children wanting attention.
