Your baby at 9 Weeks

9 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms: Symptoms & Tips
Essential Baby

Your baby is now about 3/4-inch long in your ninth week of pregnancy. Major organs continue developing, your baby’s arms are growing, and his or her elbows can bend. Tiny toes develop and the ears and eyelids that began emerging a week ago continue to form.

While it’s too early to feel any kicks yet, it’s not too early to hear something – your baby’s heartbeat might be audible on a Doppler device at your doctor’s appointment this week!

9 Weeks Pregnant Is How Many Months?

If you’re 9 weeks pregnant, you’re in month 3 of your pregnancy.  Only 6 months left to go!  Still have questions?  Here’s some more information on how weeks, months and trimesters are broken down in pregnancy.

9 weeks pregnant symptoms

Symptoms you’ve experienced so far in your pregnancy are likely to continue and even intensify this week. These symptoms include:

Frequent Urination

If your sleep is being interrupted by that gotta-go feeling, try double-voiding when you pee – when you think you’re done peeing, pee again. This will help empty out your bladder completely and maybe buy you an extra hour of shut-eye during the night.

Morning sickness

If you haven’t experienced morning sickness by now, you could be one of the lucky ones who will avoid this common symptom. But if you do get morning sickness, keep on eating smaller meals frequently throughout the day and remember to stay hydrated.

Growing waistline.

Your belly at nine weeks pregnant may not have a pronounced, rounded look, but your pre-pregnancy clothes are probably feeling a little snug due to a combination of a thickening waistline and some bloating brought on by your old friends – pregnancy hormones.

Feeling moody

During pregnancy, it’s quite normal to find that your moods become a bit unpredictable. You may be giggling away one minute, only to be crying for no apparent reason the next. Or perhaps you’ve become easily irritated, and nothing your partner says or does seems to help? Whatever it is you’re feeling, you’re not alone.

Speak to loved ones about how you’re feeling – it may help you feel a little better

Tips For The Week

Drink no more than one to two caffeinated drinks per day.

Wash all fruits and vegetables before eating.

Make sure you get fitted regularly for the correct size bra to keep yourself comfortable. You may need to get some supportive maternity bras now or in the coming weeks.

Are you feeling the burn — heartburn? If avoiding spicy and greasy foods isn’t helping, try antacids. They contain extra calcium, which you need during pregnancy anyway.
