The bond and connection between Parents and their Children has a lot of impact on how the child will turn out. It determines if the child while become an insure adult or a confident one. Therefore, a lot attention should be paid to this during the early years as that is the formative stage.

Life can get so busy, especially for a mum. Juggling work and home front is no small feat. Here are three things you can do to ensure you build an unbreakable connection with your kid(s)>

1. Quality Time

The hours can roll by without you having a one-on-one with your kids. Life with kids require wearing multiple hats at the same time. However, if you are able to spend some quality time on an activity you both enjoy, you’ll be able to strengthen the bond without having to do much work. Here are some examples of activities you can explore;  reading, playing, creating art, writing, cooking, music, board games and so on. This activities will encourage laughter, cuddling, eye contact and shared emotions.

2. Communication

Communication is a two-way street. You need to ensure your are being heard and also listening. To listen appropriately, we need certain skills like controlling our body language, maintaining eye-contact, cultivating genuine interest and reflecting back what has been said. This helps the child feel his opinion counts and even if mum and dad don’t agree, he still feels heard.

3. Physical touch

Touch is a basic human need. Lack of touch during the early years slows growth in infants. Skin-to-skin contact makes children feel safe and protected, building trust between child and parent. Through the physical contact with adults, strong attachments can be created, thus providing a stable foundation for future relationships.
