Are you a nursing mum? Don’t worry, these healthy breastfeeding-friendly foods will supply all the nutrients you need!

24 hours a day, your body is actively producing milk for your newborn. This is why some mums say they feel really hungry often or dizzy in case cases. It is important to stay hydrated and fuel your body with not just healthy but nutrient-rich meals.

1. Avocados

As a new mum, you probably have very little time to prepare a proper meal except you have a structured support system on ground which includes your partner, friends, neighbours, help, etc. Avocados are not only filling but also a nutritional powerhouse.

Avocados are nearly 80 percent fat and help maintain a feeling of fullness in addition to providing your body with heart-healthy fats. Avocados are also a good source of B vitamins, vitamin K, folate, potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

2. Nuts

Nuts are rich in minerals like Iron, Zinc, Calcium and essential vitamins- vitamin K and B vitamins. They are also a healthy source of essential fatty acids and protein. Nuts also aid breast milk production, this means they are galactagogue

3. Beans and Legumes

Beans and legumes are good sources of protein, vitamins, minerals, and phytoestrogens and one of the most accessible accessible galactagogues.

4. Green Vegetables

Leafy vegetables are known to have a positive effect on a new mum’s breast milk production.

5.  Turmeric

Turmeric is known to be the cure for a lot of things. From treatment of cold/flue in babies to resolving mastitis and breast engorgement. The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric have been demonstrated in clinical studies to be important to the health and well-being of breastfeeding mothers and also aid breast milk supply.
