Another milestone crushed. Yay! Even though the teething milestone comes with a fair share of challenges, from struggling to brush for your toddler to bitting, it’s still exciting! Now that your baby’s teeth are on their way in, it’s time to start taking care of them.
The health of your baby’s first teeth is essential to the gums and those future permanent teeth. Here are some useful teeth care tips.
1. Start before the first tooth breaks through
Wipe your baby’s gums with clean wash clothes after every feed. dampen the wash cloth with warm water and gently clean the gum and corners of the mouth. Start cleaning your child’s mouth even before her teeth come in.
2. Start immediately
Once the teeth start to break through, care should begin immediately. A lot of parents assume baby teeth are not so important since they will all fall off eventually to give way to the permanent teeth. It is important to note that these baby teeth help your baby chew and talk and also preserve the spacing for the permanent teeth. If they are left dirty, they may decay and cause gum infection.
3. Avoid Cavities
Avoid putting your baby to bed with a bottle of milk, or juice. This can cause cavities. Also, don’t leave your baby to suck at his bottle after feeding for comfortable. The early signs of cavities in baby teeth are discoloration and minor pitting. Reduce Sugar/Sugary Food. Apart from them not being healthy for the body, they are not good for your baby’s teeth.
4.Brush
With about the size of a grain of rice of toothpaste, gently brush your baby’s teeth twice a day.
5. Schedule A Dental Appointment
If you notice excess bleeding or pain from your baby’s teeth, have it checked as soon as possible.
