5 Little Ways to Boost Your Child’s Health

These tried and trusted hacks will help your child’s overall health.

If you are wondering what else you can do to boost your baby’s health apart from making sure he is clean and well-fed. This article is for you!

1. Encourage Free Play

Toddlers have so much energy! Remember to channel some of that energy into physical activities. Encourage at least 60 minutes of daily exercise on activities like swimming, walking, cycling, etc.

2. Limit Screen Time

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for a long time recommended against screen time for children before age 2, but recently reviewed this advice taking the digital media age into consideration. Set time limits to screen time. For example, you can turn everything off 2 hours to bed time to encourage communication and interaction with things and people around them.

3. Reduce Sugar Consumption

If you have a sweet tooth toddler like my child, you will have to consciously reduce his/her sugar intake to the minimum. Obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and even certain cancers are some of the risks associated with overconsumption of sugar.

4. Have a Consistent Bedtime Routine

This routine should also include a consistent bedtime. An overly tired child is a sickness prone child. Let your child get enough sleep daily. Stick to a bedtime and routine. You may not succeed everyday but if you are able to make it work 80% of the time, you are on the right track to a healthy champ.

5. Check-ups

Immunization schedule, weight checks, developmental checks, and general check-ups are very important. Be on top of it to ensure you don’t miss important dates. Add these appointments to your calendar and share with your partner so you are both aware of the events and say on top of things.
