As parents, watching our babies grow is one of the most exciting and scary things that come with parenting. While they are growing, we need to ensure a proper and safe environment is made available for them especially when they start getting mobile.
Here are 5 structures to put in place immediately your baby starts walking.
1. Child Proof your home: Ensure there are no sharp edges that can cause bruises. Baby proofing is a necessity once your child becomes mobile.
2. Avoid wet floors: Bathroom accidents are very rampant, especially in kids. Take care to keep the floor clean and dry while your toddler is toddling around. As their steps are not balanced yet, the slightest hint of wtness can cause a grave accident.
3. Cover all power switches: Your baby is getting more aware of his environment and anything that sounds or has light is most likely going to draw his attention. Cover all power sockets safely. Your baby does not understand the dangers that come with electricity or naked wires, therefore, the responsibility falls us to keep them tucked away and covered safely out of baby’s reach.
4. Watch what they put in their mouths: Someone once made a joke that nobody is as swift as a toddler popping something dangerous in her mouth. The slightest distraction from them can give them room to put everything and anything in their mouths.
5. Block access to rooms: Always kept the doors locked and latched. Especially doors to the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom or any other room you find unsafe for your baby.
