5 Foods You Should Avoid Feeding Your Baby
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Babies have a very delicate digestive systems, therefore, sticking to age appropriate meals is beneficial to both parents and babies.

Here’s a list of the foods babies should avoid:

1. Honey

Surprised? There are chances of honey containing the spores of the bacteria Clostridium botulinum, which can lead to fatal bacterial infection. It can also cause constipation and irritation in babies under the age of 1. Therefore, please keep honey off your babies meals till his first birthday.

2. Cow’s Milk

Cow’s milk has a higher lactose content that can affect a baby’s stomach. It can also lead to kidney disorders, bleeding intestines and Iron deficit anaemia when fed to babies below the age of 1.

3. Nut and Peanut Butter

Such an irony knowing peanut butter is every kid’s favourite, right? Peanut butter is yummy and very rich in protein. However, a lot of people are allergic to it. it’s better to avoid it if you have a family history of nut allergy. Also, to avoid a choking hazard, peanut butter can be ground into a smooth puree to feed children under four. Mayo Clinic’s tip for satisfying a toddler’s sweet tooth is to give your child fat-free pudding instead.

4.Whole Grapes

Babies can eat thinly sliced grapes (not just cut in half). Or take an extra precaution and puree fruits before mealtime. Whole grapes are easy to swallow and choke on for babies.

5. Raw Vegetables

While babies are learning to chew or gum their food, skip crunchy raw vegetables and give them soft-cooked peas, beans, and carrots.
