Crawling is a major milestone in every baby’s development and a pretty complex one to figure out. These 4 tips will help you support your baby correctly as they learn how to move and crawl.
Please note, these tips will only be effective if your baby is ready to crawl but only needs a little push.
1. Practice Tummy Time
Regular tummy time will help your baby develop the muscles needed, strengthen their shoulders, arms, neck and back. Make sure tummy time is done under close supervision of an adult to prevent suffocation in case the baby buries her head in clothes or on the bed and not able to urn for breathing. Start with 15 minutes of daily tummy time and gradually increase the time duration.
2. Entice your baby to reach out to objects
Please your baby’s favourite toys a little behind her reach. This will make her launch herself into a crawling position to reach the toy. Gradually push the toy forward to encourage motion.
3. Child-proof your home
Child-proofing can not be over-emphasized once your baby starts moving. Here are amazing child-proofing tips you will find useful. Crawl through your home to find the potential hazards your kid can run into.
4. Palms behind the feet
Place your baby’s palms behind her feet when she is on all 4s. She will need the “push off” force and also this stabilizes her in this position.
