5 Fun Activities To Do With Your 3-5 Year Old
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Children between the ages of 3-5 are always curious, asking lots of questions and ready to explore the world. This is a crucial time for them to learn and develop. Parents and guardians can help them learn through play.

Here are 8 fun activities you can do with your little champ.

1.Trace letters together

3 year olds often love drawing. Maximize this penchant for art by encouraging them to trace letters. This will help your child learn the shape of each letter and how to write them.  Draw letters on a paper with pencil and let your children go over your writing with markers. They will find it fun and also learn in the process.

2. Do puzzles

Jigsaw puzzles can help kids gain fine motor skills. Moving the puzzle pieces from place to place and ensuring they are correctly inserted also teaches them patience. An attribute they will need a lot later in life.

3. Throwing and counting games

Throwing anything is fun for kids. From their toys to your remote control. Help them channel that energy into activities that will help their fine motor skills and learn numbers at the same time. Like playing basketball or even simply tossing rolled papers into a basket while counting. You can also make them count different numbers of pop corns or nuts into different bowls.

4. Sorting Shapes

At this age, they can identify simple shapes. Buy toys that will make them fit in the right shapes into holes. Point at these shapes everywhere you see them.

5. Do a color scavenger hunt

Identifying colours is another basic ability that preschoolers should understand. Make it fun for them using a colour scavenger hunt!  Place different coloured toys around the house and have them find them. Green leaf, red ball, purple bicycle, black shoes, blue bag, white paper.  It’s a fun way to engage the kids while learning colour identification. This will have more impact that asking them “what colour is this?”
