Causes, Symptoms & Treatment Of Diaper Rash
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

What’s life without diapers? Only a mum can answer that question correctly. But with diaper comes rash, and no, and it is not a sign of parental neglect.

These 10 tips will help keep your baby’s skin smooth and diaper rash free.

Before we list out treatments, lets’ look at causes of diaper rash.

Diaper dermatitis (diaper rash) thrives on the moist, or wet skin. Below are some of the common causes of diaper rash.

1. Dirty diaper

2. Diarrhea

3. Tight fit diapers

4. Allergy

5. Soap (in case of cloth diapers)

Causes, Symptoms & Treatment Of Diaper Rash

10 tips to treat diaper rash in babies

1. Cleanliness

Keep your baby’s diaper clean. You may use more diapers than you bargained for with this method but it keeps your baby’s skin rash free. Change wet or dirty diaper as soon as possible.

2. Dryness

Keep your baby’s bum dry at all times as rash thrives in moist regions.

3. Diaper brand

If your baby keeps getting diaper rash, it’s possibly time to change your diaper brand.

4. Naked time

As convenient as diapers are if your baby has a rash, she needs some naked time (diaper free time) to heal fast.

5. Clean hands

Make sure your hands are always clean before you change your baby’s diaper to be sure you don’t pass germs to her from your hands.

6. Absorbent diapers

If your baby’s diaper leaks often, it’s probably a sign that the brand isn’t suitable (absorbent). Opt for brands that absorb well.

7. Diaper rash cream (prescribed)

If the rash persists, see your doctor to get a diaper rash cream prescription.

8. Stay away from wipes

If your baby has diaper rash, stay away from wipes. Use water to clean up and pat dry.

9. Coconut oil

You have probably heard that coconut oil cures a lot of things and diaper rash isn’t left out.

10. Shea butter

Apply a little shea butter to the rash spots. Preferably during diaper free times.
