TEAS THAT CAN HELP TO MANAGE PCOS
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels.

The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release eggs.
The exact cause of PCOS is unknown but early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may reduce the risk of long-term complications such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Tea can be a great beverage for anyone to drink. It has many benefits such as being high in antioxidants, reduces risk of stroke and heart attacks, helps with weight loss. It is also basically calorie free, help with digestion, aids in immune support and has less caffeine than coffee.

Tea is also great for women managing PCOS. There are 4 teas that women with PCOS should be drinking.

They include;

1. Spearmint Tea

Spearmint tea has anti-androgenic properties that help improve hirsutism (unwanted hair growth on women’s face, chest, back, etc.)  and reduces the level of testosterone in women. While this is great to drink daily and will improve your health, you’ll need to drink it for a little while to see improvements. It is recommended to drink 2 cups of spearmint tea daily.

2. Green Tea

Green Tea is full of antioxidants with a lot of great benefits. It protects the heart, helps prevent Alzheimer’s and Diabetes. For women with PCOS, green tea can reduce insulin resistance, help with hair loss, hirsutism, and acne by reducing free testosterone and also aids weight loss as well.

3. Chamomile Tea

PCOS and depression are linked but Chamomile tea can help with depression. It can help relax the body, to fall asleep easily and quickly. Falling asleep can sometimes be hard to do when suffering from depression or just having thoughts running around your head at night. Chamomile tea can also help with menstrual cramps and aids in digestion.

4. Lavender Tea

Lavender is known as a calming herb and helps with anxiety and depression. It has the ability to relieve stress, improve mood, promote restful sleep, and soothe stomach bloating. Lavender tea can also help with hirsutism.
